Terms of Service

Rewound is operated by Daniel Kafie as a sole proprietorship. Using the service means you agree to what follows. It is written to be read.

What the service does

You give us a link to a video. We read the replay data the platform publishes with it, cut short vertical clips at the busiest moments, burn in captions, and send you the files. That is the whole product.

What you are promising us

That you have the right to use the video you submit. We cannot check this. If you submit someone else's video and they object, that is between you and them. We will, however, suspend an account we have reason to believe is systematically clipping content it has no right to.

Also that you will not use the service to produce material that is illegal, that harasses someone, or that misrepresents a person by editing them out of context.

Plans and billing

• Three clips free. No card, no account.
• Creator: $10 per month for 100 clips.
• Studio: $29 per month for 400 clips.

Allowances are counted in clips delivered, not videos submitted or hours uploaded. They reset on your renewal date and do not roll over. If a job fails, nothing is counted against you.

Subscriptions renew automatically each month until you cancel. Cancel at any time from your account and keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.

All payments are final and no refunds are given. The three free clips exist so you can try the service before paying. Nothing here limits any right the law gives you where you live. See Payments and cancelling.

If we change a price, existing subscribers are told by email at least 30 days before it applies, and cancelling before then costs nothing.

Your files

Finished clips are stored for seven days so you can download them, then deleted. We do not publish your clips, use them to advertise the service, or give them to anyone else. We keep your email address, what you submitted and when, and your billing status. That is what running the service requires.

What we do not promise

That every video will work. Some have no replay data, usually because they are new or too small. For those we pick moments from the audio instead, and your account says which method was used. Private, age-restricted, members-only and live videos cannot be processed. A job that fails is not counted against you.

That the clips will perform. We cut at moments viewers actually replayed, which is better evidence than guessing, but nobody can promise you views.

That the service is never down. It runs on hardware that can fail. While it is down your job waits in the queue, and nothing is counted until clips are delivered.

Ending it

You can stop at any time. We can suspend or close an account that abuses the service, charges back a payment in bad faith, or breaks the promises above. If we close an account without cause, we refund the unused part of that month.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. We are not liable for lost revenue, lost views, or lost opportunities.

Changes

If these terms change materially, subscribers get an email. Continuing to use the service after that means the new terms apply.

Governing law

Rewound is operated from Texas, United States. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that cannot be settled by writing to us through the contact page goes to the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas.
